Grandpa tell me about climate change

This VR experience immerses users in the emotional and psychological impacts of climate change through the eyes of a grandchild asking their grandfather about his role in addressing the crisis. Inspired by research linking personal experiences with natural disasters to greater environmental action, the project guides users through a serene forest where they bond with nature, interact with animals, and witness a butterfly landing on their hand. The calm is shattered by a wildfire that users try to put out, only to find it keeps spreading uncontrollably. The experience concludes with a rescue helicopter flight over the destruction and a chance to plant a virtual tree while committing to eco-friendly habits.

As my bachelor's project at university, I extensively contributed by designing interactive elements such as the water pump mechanics, butterfly behavior, and a playful tutorial, while also creating many 3D assets in Blender. Developed in Unity, this project blends storytelling, interactivity, and psychology to inspire action against climate change.

The project was showcased at two exhibitions: Gamescom 2022 in Cologne, where it received public attention, and FMX 2023 in Stuttgart, where I presented it as part of a professional talk. These opportunities highlighted its impact and relevance in combining storytelling, technology, and climate awareness.
